Our highly experienced attorneys bring their dedication, mastery of the law, unyielding determination, creative strategies and compassion to every case. When your liberty is at stake, you need a team that knows how to win.
If you receive a subpoena, target letter, a call or meeting with agents or are under investigation for a white collar crime such as fraud, embezzlement, tax evasion or money laundering, you may have options regarding cooperating, testifying and producing documents or fighting the allegations. Our goal is to prevent you from ever being charged. The attorneys at Stahl Gasiorowski Criminal Defense Lawyers possess the experience and skills to defend these and other complex matters.
Federal investigations of fraud, racketeering and money laundering can lead to highly complex defense cases in the areas of securities, finance, tax, business, health care and mortgage law and may also involve possible asset seizure and forfeiture.
Since 1997, the Stahl Gasiorowski Criminal Defense Lawyers’ practice in White-Collar Criminal Defense and Appellate cases has defended clients in some of the biggest cases in the region and the country.
Firm founder Robert G. Stahl, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Certified Trial Attorney, has extensive experience representing individuals in serious white-collar and other criminal matters. Mr. Stahl founded the firm to provide first class, hands on representation for clients involved in serious federal and state investigations and prosecutions. By focusing only on criminal defense and managing the expenses associated with top professional staff and location, our firm provides big firm defense at fair costs. Mr. Stahl’s recent high-profile cases have involved Rabbis accused of extortion and murder-for-hire in the District of New Jersey and the Southern District of New York related to religious divorces; physicians accused of over-prescribing opioids; pharmacists and salesmen accused of healthcare fraud in compound medicine schemes; large-scale mortgage fraud cases; FDA investigations into drug wholesalers and importers; and a foreign college student charged with obstruction in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing case.
Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Stahl was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey who earned two of the highest awards given by the Department of Justice. Mr. Stahl investigated and tried complex fraud, tax, money laundering, RICO and drug cases. Mr. Stahl leverages his extensive prosecutorial experience in litigation and criminal law to vigorously defend his clients.
For the past 20 years, Mr. Stahl has been recognized as a top white-collar criminal defense attorney for the most complex and difficult cases. His strategy of taking each case apart; thoroughly learning the facts, evidence and law; fighting for his clients and specializing only in serious criminal cases has led to a results-oriented practice.
Clients include corporations and individuals being investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice, state attorneys general, county prosecutors and federal and state regulatory agencies as well as individuals charged with crimes of violence.
The firm’s appellate practice handles criminal appeals for clients whom we continue to represent throughout the course of their cases, as well as for new clients seeking to reverse their convictions or appeal their sentences.
Laura K. Gasiorowski has vast experience in federal and state appeals, including several high-profile federal death penalty and criminal law appeals in recent years. Ms. Gasiorowski is a peer-recognized leader as a masterful researcher and writer who drafts persuasive pre-trial motions, trial briefs, sentencing memorandums, post-trial and appellate motions and trial strategy. She has worked on an extraordinary range of complex, high profile trial and appellate cases, including capital cases and cases of first impression in federal and state courts. In addition, she has extensively used experts in pre-trial, trial and post-trial settings to aggressively defend her clients. Laura K. Gasiorowski has been practicing criminal defense law since 1994, and joined Stahl Gasiorowski Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2005.
Andrew Olesnycky, the former head of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office’s Domestic Violence Unit, joined Stahl Gasiorowski Criminal Defense Lawyers in August of 2015. Mr. Olesnycky represents individuals and organizations facing criminal charges and investigations in federal, state, and municipal courts and has served as lead attorney for defendants accused in multi-million dollar federal and state fraud conspiracies, complex multi-defendant federal and state drug distribution conspiracies, Superstorm Sandy-related fraud, sexual assaults, child pornography, interference with custody, and various other criminal cases. Mr. Olesnycky is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney, a designation obtained by fewer than 1% of attorneys state-wide.
During his nearly five-year tenure with the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Olesnycky tried numerous felony cases involving robbery, aggravated assault, gun possession, narcotics offenses, large-scale theft, and fraud. Mr. Olesnycky is one of very few criminal trial attorneys in private practice who has served as a domestic violence supervisor in a county prosecutor’s office, and represents those accused of domestic violence in criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings, as well as victims of domestic violence seeking restraining orders in family court. His trials and prosecutions have been covered by media outlets including the New York Times, CBS This Morning, NBC4 New York, the Associated Press, the Boston Globe, NJ.com, the Star Ledger, and ESPN.
Mr. Olesnycky is also one of very few criminal trial attorneys in New Jersey who has served as a domestic violence supervisor in a county prosecutor’s office, and represents those accused of domestic violence in criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings, as well as victims of domestic violence seeking restraining orders in family court. As a supervisor, Mr. Olesnycky bore ultimate responsibility for the investigation and prosecution of every complaint of domestic violence in Union County.
Mr. Olesnycky appears regularly in federal court and has been appointed by the District of New Jersey to serve on the Criminal Justice Act Panel of Private Attorneys. He was part of a defense team that secured the dismissal of murder-for-hire charges in federal court in the Southern District of New York and an outright dismissal of health care fraud charges against a dentist accused of performing unnecessary procedures. Much of Mr. Olesnycky’s time is dedicated to the defense of medical and medical laboratory professionals facing allegations of illegal referrals or fraud in both State and Federal courts.
Before launching his private practice Mr. Stahl was an award-winning Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of New Jersey who prosecuted high-visibility criminal cases, including an international multi-defendant case that was the largest fuel excise tax case of its day.
