Robert Stahl was honored to instruct at the Criminal Trial Advocacy Institute, where he was part of a distinguished panel of attorneys, judges and experts on identifying, preparing and presenting expert witnesses.

Expert witnesses in criminal trials contribute their analysis and conclusions regarding autopsies, DNA evidence, fingerprints, forensic identification, as well as psychologists’ and criminologists’ reports. In addition, complex criminal cases now routinely require experts on a number of technologies, such as computer and cellphone analysis, GPS, cell site location, facial recognition and smart home devices.

The panel discussion provided attorneys who attended, both in person and via webcam, with the latest strategies on the use of expert witnesses. This half-day Institute included a practical presentation for both prosecutors and defense attorneys on using, preparing and presenting expert witnesses.

The panel took place this past Saturday, October 3, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. The session included presentations from experts in psychiatry, digital forensics, and pathology. Mr. Stahl joined Hudson County Superior Court Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez, PJCr., criminal defense attorneys Brian Neary and Eric Breslin, and Assistant Prosecutor Christopher F. Schellhorn of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

The event was sponsored by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJICLE), a division of the NJ State Bar Association, and in cooperation with the American College of Trial Lawyers. More Information on the program can be found at
